What is it like to talk with a therapist?

Therapy is an opportunity to heal, reconnect, and transform. We create a safe space where you feel comfortable opening up and changing your life. Sometimes this means sharing vulnerably, or sometimes it means laughing. Sometimes we explore the depths of what it is like being you. We can discuss the topics that are most important to you and confront that which prevents you from living the life you want. Therapy is a dynamic process, where your needs of the moment are explored in the context of your larger goals. You may have goals that you want to discuss or you may prefer free-form conversation.  We adjust our style to match your needs.

It is important to know that Sequim Counseling does not prescribe medication. If you are interested in medication, we can provide a referral for you to see a doctor or nurse practitioner that prescribes.

Therapy takes a lot of time and money. I’m not sure it’s worth it.

Counseling is an investment of time and money. Healing your challenges now will make a big difference in the long run. The tools you will learn can be utilized for the rest of your life helping you and your family feel better. Your current struggles may impact your job, relationships, and social life. Not addressing these concerns will likely lead to more of the same. Counseling can boost your self-esteem and empower you to live the life you want.

I’m afraid that talking about my struggles may just make things worse.

Counseling will not make anything worse. Talking through painful experiences and circumstances is part of the healing process and will lead to more happiness and fulfillment in your life. Sharing your emotions allows you to experience resolution, clarity, and insight. Plus, you no longer have to store these unexpressed emotions in your body and psyche. We will be with you throughout the process and offer useful tools that will help you move through your emotions.
