Boca Raton Couples Counseling

Many couples struggle to navigate ups, downs, and transitions

All couples encounter difficult moments and unexpected shifts. A relationship can be wonderful, exhilarating, and full of passionate intimacy. And, when a relationship is based on a foundation of commitment, it can be a complex, beautiful union. But, at times, couples run into roadblocks that cause the union to suffer, which can be incredibly painful. If you feel as though you and your partner currently lack the coping skills that you need to overcome trying experiences, you are not alone.

Many different situations and obstacles can create conflict in a relationship. Each member of a couple is a unique individual with a unique upbringing. Sometimes the way one partner views family, money, or other issues can clash with the other partner. Without realizing it, couples can fall into unhealthy patterns of argument or avoidance that can be hard to break out of. Thankfully, regardless of where you are in your relationship, an experienced therapist can help you feel more satisfied, nurtured, and equipped to communicate.

Couples Counseling Can Help You and Your Partner Reconnect

Couples counseling can offer you a safe, confidential, and supportive environment to work through conflict and establish healthy communication. As an objective third party who will remain neutral, I can help you identify harmful patterns that you may not be able to recognize on your own. In sessions, you can develop effective coping and communication skills so that you can overcome feelings of unworthiness, let go of resentment, and restore love and happiness.

In sessions, we can explore the deeper, subconscious blockages that are preventing you and your partner from enjoying harmony and connection. Together, we can get to the root of your issues, identify their sources, and create effective strategies to deal with them. By exploring your relationship in a safe, compassionate environment, you can discover growth as a couple and as individuals. As you develop new ways to communicate, you and your partner can begin to grow together, remember the wonderful things that united you, and enjoy your relationship again.

Every relationship is different, so I will work with you to determine your individual needs and your needs as a couple. I can help you establish goals and work toward them so that you can pursue the relationship you long for. If you are determined and dedicated to staying together and making your relationship work, I can help you maintain and strengthen the bond that ties you together. If you and your partner realize that you want to end the relationship, I can help you separate in a respectful and compassionate way. During couples counseling, I will work to help you make your own, best choices.

I have been married for 26 years, and I know how confusing, difficult, and rewarding a relationship can be. I also know how to navigate tough times and move forward. If you and your partner are willing to dedicate time to one another and work through your challenges, I believe that you can overcome them and rediscover the excitement of being together. In addition, you can nurture empathy, identify your values, and embrace an opportunity for personal growth and development. With help and support, you can feel lasting love and fulfillment in your relationship and within yourself.

You may believe that couples counseling can help you work through conflict, but still have questions or concerns…

What if my partner doesn’t want to come to couples counseling?

Sometimes, one partner struggles to believe that therapy can be effective. But, I invite you to remind your partner that couples counseling can’t hurt. If you remain stuck in harmful patterns, it is unlikely that things will get better. However, therapy gives you an opportunity to try something different. As a neutral third party, I can offer you a new perspective on your current conflicts and possibilities for the future.

If your partner continues to refuse therapy, you can still come in on your own. While couples counseling is most effective when both partners are engaged and present, you can make changes in your own behavior and communication skills that can shift the dynamics in your relationship.

I am embarrassed to talk about such private issues.

Relationships are intimate, and I understand that some things are difficult to talk about. However, no matter what you are going through, you are not alone. I offer a nonjudgmental, caring, and supportive environment. It is okay to share your feelings and receive the help you are longing for.

If we come in, I’m afraid that we’ll break up.

In sessions, I can empower you to look toward your future, consider how to let go of your fears, and move forward with a sense of self-assurance and confidence. If you and your partner do reach the decision that breaking up is the best choice, it may be best that your relationship comes to an end. While this can be a frightening thought, I encourage you to consider that what comes next might be even better. You deserve a fulfilling, rewarding life.
